Philosophy

Richard Blacklock began Lilly Pilly Indigenous Landscapes in 1984 building commercially on the training he received in Conservation & Land Management and Horticulture at Ryde College.

We started Lilly Pilly to develop leading edge ideas in Australian native plant environmentalism.

We believe that the native gardens are the most sustainable ones in the long term.

We know that bush regeneration techniques work and that we can teach you to use them for sustainability in your own garden.

Native gardening is the structural way that Lilly Pilly Indigenous Landscapes teams work within the landscape to maintain, restore and sustain the existing environment.

Flannel flowers after a burn

Flannel flowers after a burn, great!

The benefits of a healthy indigenous landscape of native plants are

  • Increased footprint of native fauna
  • Diversity of insects
  • Beauty of native species their foliage and flowers
  • Restoration of soil ecology
  • More sustainable use of water resources

  • What’s our story?

Waterways are accessible by barge

Having access to our own barge means that bushland verges, estuaries and harbourside gardens can be maintained by Lilly Pilly’s crews.

Steep site maintenance

Many sites around Sydney's north need weeding but are incredibly difficult to access. With a boat and abseiling gear Lilly Pilly can get to it
